Engine and Transmission
The Camaro ZL1 is a rear-wheel drive Chevrolet that features a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine that makes 650 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 650 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. The engine uses direct injection and features variable valve timing. The engine is backed by a six-speed manual transmission with active rev matching.
The Camaro features an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler, transmission oil cooler, an auxiliary coolant cooler and extra capacity cooling system to keep the temperatures for the oil and antifreeze down. The driver selector mode gives you four modes for different driving conditions including snow/ice, track, sport, and tour. The rear is a 3.73 ratio gear with electronic limited slip. The Camaro also features launch control. The brake system features four-wheel antilock disc brakes, Brembo six-piston calipers in the front and Brembo four-piston calipers in the rear.
The new Camaro ZL1 features Chevrolet MyLink Radio and an 8-inch color touchscreen. Bluetooth, voice-activation for phones and the radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow you to go hands-free and install apps including iHeartRadio, Pandora, The Weather Channel and more. The audio system features nine Bose speakers, two USB ports and an auxiliary input jack. 4G LTE and a Wi-Fi hotspot help you stay connected.
The interior features Recaro performance leather-trimmed and suede power bucket seats that are heated, a heated steering wheel, a color digital head-up display with several readouts including G-Force, driver information center, dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless charging for devices. Additional features include keyless open and start, power programmable door locks, a theft deterrent system and electronic cruise control.
The Chevy Camaro ZL1 features an electric parking brake, LED daytime running lights, StabiliTrak with traction control and brake assist, airbags, OnStar, Chevrolet Connected Access, rear parking assist, a rear vision camera with cross-traffic alert, lane change alert, side blind zone alert, and Teen Driver Mode. The Teen Driver Mode allows you to activate settings of your choice with a key fob to ensure your teen drives safely. It also gives you an in-vehicle report on your teen’s driving habits.
