2 Chevys Make U.S. News & World Report's Top Safety Pick List

2 Chevys Make U.S. News & World Report's Top Safety Pick List

It is a good time to be driving a Chevrolet. For 2018, two of our models have been named top safety picks: the Bolt and the Volt. Let's take a look at both of these models in greater detail to see what makes them such safe vehicles.

Chevy Bolt

The Chevy Bolt is a compact hatchback vehicle that is ideal for young professionals. It is sleek and stylish, and its lightweight frame keeps the ride peppy and fun. Despite its small size, the Bolt packs in lots of safety features. Forward collision protection is available, including pedestrian detection and autonomous braking at low speeds. This way, the car can bring you to a stop safely, even if your mind starts to wander for a moment.

The Bolt comes with plenty of standard safety features as well. A rearview camera for reversing comes standard on all trim levels, as does the Teen Driver Safety System. This enables parents to apply various safety settings to prevent their teen from speeding or playing music too loudly, among other controls. Parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, lane departure assistance and more all come standard as well.

The Chevy Volt is the brand's electric vehicle, boasting up to 50 miles of gas-free driving on a single charge. This is more than enough to get most people around to complete their daily errands and other activities. After that first 50 miles, the gas engine kicks in, recharging the battery in the process and enabling you to keep driving, even making it all the way across the country without needing to plug in.

Chevy Volt

The Chevy Volt is the brand's electric vehicle, boasting up to 50 miles of gas-free driving on a single charge. This is more than enough to get most people around to complete their daily errands and other activities. After that first 50 miles, the gas engine kicks in, recharging the battery in the process and enabling you to keep driving, even making it all the way across the country without needing to plug in.

The Volt is similar to the Bolt in the suite of standard safety features it offers, including all of those listed in the previous section. In addition, the Volt received top marks on all crash safety tests, earning it a place not just on the U.S. News & World Report safety list, but also as an IIHS Top Safety Pick, the highest safety accolade in the automotive industry. Parking assistance and adaptive cruise control are among the available safety options.
